Stewed apples are an absolutely sensational soothing gut food. Please for a moment let me quickly break this down for you:

When your gut flora ferments the pectin from stewed apples, it produces butyrate, a short-chain fatty acid. Butyrate is vital for maintaining the intestinal mucosal lining and reducing inflammation throughout the gut.
Stewed apples are also really low in FODMAPS making them super easy to digest.
Pectin also has gel forming properties, meaning it will help to bulk loose stools OR help to ease constipation. They are also a major player in prebiotic soluble fibre.

They are seriously a recovery superfood!

Now I have taken mine to the next level by cooking my apples in chicken bone broth, adding to all those beautiful gut health benefits. Now
I PROMISE you cannot taste it, these are deliciously sour and sweet apples, loaded with vanilla beans and cinnamon sticks.

But yes really I did cook apples in bone broth and I’m not sorry :)

Serving suggestions:

  • Serve with coconut kefir and a sprinkle of hemp seeds 

  • Warm up a lil bowl full and get in your bed and eat it without scrolling.
